19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback the Russian player secured his first trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at 21 various competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.
His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.
But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.
The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
He defended 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
